About

The Blog

The Midnight Cook is a reflection of my everyday life in the kitchen. Cooking is truly something I love to do, and this blog is my way to share delicious recipes captured through photos and text.

The recipes I choose are naturally inspired by the places I’ve lived. Growing up in a Persian household, I was fooled into thinking that pomegranate-duck stew and saffron rice comprised a “normal” dinner. Living in Paris, I had the opportunity to travel (& eat) extensively throughout Western Europe, and discovered my love for kir and poulet roti.  Now, I am back home in Seattle, where I am constantly in awe of the fresh local produce and arguably, the world’s best seafood.

Behind the Name

During the day, I work in corporate finance for a large conglomerate.  My hours are rarely 9 to 5, but it’s a bit catchier than “8 to 7″.

Regardless of the time when I actually get home from work, I’m almost always ready to attempt a new recipe.  In between analyzing financial data and forecasting cash flows, I’ve most likely found the perfect recipe for the night.

I enjoy going to the grocery store at 9pm, even if it means I won’t finish cooking until 11.  I’ve been guilty of trying out a new recipe, despite already having eaten dinner earlier in the evening. For me, cooking means more than just ”what to eat”; it’s about the process, the pain, and the pleasure.  Going to the market, trying new recipes, and learning how to make things taste simply delicious – that is what keeps me in the kitchen until midnight.

If you’ve tried any of the recipes I’ve posted, let me know what you think…the delectable, the disappointing, and everything in between.

I really enjoy reading your comments and questions.
